Furusato Gujo TV
Motai Iburi Doufu

his is the smoked tofu which has been made in the Motai district since Kamakura period (around1185-1333). You can hardly find this kind of tofu in other areas in Japan.

In the Kamakura period the main route passed through this district. It means that Motai district prospered with a lot of travelers in those days. Food kept well was required for them in the post-stations.

Motai Iburi Doufu is made from 3 times domestic soybeans than regular tofu. And only Sakura smoke chips are used for smoking, they go great with the Motai tofu which are dipped in the miso paste.

Some people say it tastes special cheese flavor.
