Takao Kabuki in Hachiman-cho

高雄歌舞伎(Takao Kabuki) is performed by locals who live in the 高雄神社(Takao-jinja shrine) area. Their history dates back to more than 200 years ago.
Takao Kabuki used to be played at the Takao-jinja shrine which has 回り舞台(the revolving stage). Now it is performed at an elementary school near the shrine.
The locals from school children to eiders take a role in their Kabuki stage, such as actor, musician, property person, etc.
The Takao Kabuki is played as a part of the Takao-jinja autumn festival which is held on the first weekend in October.
