Local people in Gujo have been using the 水舟(mizubune) for generations since long time ago. It is a rational device to use water wisely.

Common types are two-tiered mizubune and three-tiered one. The water in the top tier is used for drinking water, the water in middle is used for washing vegetables, the water in bottom is used for doing the dishes.

Gujo city is surrounded by mountains, so it is a water-rich district. People use the water for mizubune not only well and spring, but also from mountains.

All mizubune used to be made of wood before, now some people create ones with concrete or an oil drum.
Even water supply is set up at every house nowadays, the mizubune is essential to Gujo locals.
